Is this free money I never have to pay back?
The answer depends on the agreement. Some help may be a grant; other help is a loan or has forgiveness conditions. Ask what happens when you sell, move, refinance or stop meeting a requirement.
Can I count on help before I choose a home?
Ask the administrator about eligibility, funding and address rules first. Do not assume approval or reserve an assistance amount in your budget until the required review is complete.
Does qualifying for help mean I qualify for the mortgage?

Do I need to be a first-time buyer?
Some programs, including the assistance overview on GCRA’s site, list first-time buyer status. Definitions and exceptions can vary. Ask about the actual program before ruling yourself in or out.
Can I buy without using an assistance program?
